EFCO has further optimized the thermal management of its Eagle Eyes industrial PCs and now offers computers that can be used at ambient temperatures of up to +70 °C without a fan. The entire power loss of the CPU and the peripherals is released exclusively by convection via the appropriately dimensioned and shaped aluminum housing. Fans are completely eliminated – and with them also potential noise pollution and maintenance costs.

EFCO Electronics, one of the leading manufacturers of fanless industrial PCs for machine vision, automation and AI, has decisively advanced the thermal management of its Eagle Eyes family. In the new generation of devices, Intel 35 W CPUs can be used at ambient temperatures of up to +70 °C without the need for forced cooling. The entire power loss of the CPU and the peripherals is dissipated solely via convection. The sophisticated mechanical design of the device casing, consisting of a highly thermally conductive aluminum alloy, plays a key role here. Lightweight construction techniques in conjunction with specially developed tools ensure that EFCO’s IPCs remain pleasantly light.

A pleasant side effect of this new technology: The construction of powerful computers without rotating parts is made much easier. Accordingly, EFCO provides numerous interfaces in its IPCs in order to be able to accommodate mass storage within the housing.

The 16 digital IOs, which can be easily addressed or read from the high-level language via the supplied API, have remained unchanged. With them, “exotic” interfaces can be emulated quite comfortably, or the use of additional overrun controls can be avoided. Furthermore, all EFCO industrial computers have an extensive range of interfaces and an integrated display about the size of a thumb. For example, the supply services actually provided on the PoE interfaces can be displayed during commissioning.

EFCO supports its customers with design-in through its own branch in Germany, which not only has a well-stocked warehouse, but above all has the technical expertise to relieve customers of the time-consuming design and configuration of samples and small series.
