Weidmüller brings new unmanaged switches onto the market. The products called EcoLine Series B are characterized by a particularly small design with high performance. Advanced functions such as Quality of Service and Broadcast Storm Protection are new technical highlights.

The new Switch series supports “Quality of Service”. The function prioritizes data traffic and regulates the priority between different applications and services – this minimizes latency. This ensures that business-critical applications always run with the required priority. Less important tasks are automatically given lower priority. By using this principle, the switches meet Profinet Conformance Class A and can therefore be used in industrial real-time networks such as Profinet.

In addition to performance, the reliability of networks is also crucial for the smooth operation of production lines. The switches protect the network from “broadcast storms”. A faulty device or application sends a flood of broadcast messages that can cause the system to collapse. Broadcast Storm Protection (BSP) detects message floods and automatically limits them to maintain network integrity. This prevents potential network failures and stabilizes data traffic.

The revised technology of the EcoLine Series B allows the new devices to be particularly small. The narrow dimensions of the housing fit into spatially limited environments. The locking base, which can be rotated through 90 degrees, enables both horizontal and vertical installation in the control cabinet – this means that it can be used even at a short distance from cable ducts.

The industrial metal housing gives the switches a high level of robustness. This means they are protected against shocks, vibrations and other environmental influences. This ensures a long service life of the devices and minimizes downtime. With the new series, Weidmüller has also succeeded in reducing overall operating costs. On the one hand, this is achieved through energy savings of 60 percent compared to the previous model, and on the other hand, through the cardboard packaging, which can be recycled without separate waste separation.
