How can industry be made more sustainable while also improving productivity and profitability? At Hannover Messe 2024, Siemens will be demonstrating what it means for companies to become a sustainable Digital Enterprise, in line with the motto “Accelerate Transformation.” Different showcases from the process and manufacturing industry will enable visitors to discover products and solutions they can use to connect the real and digital worlds. Siemens will be introducing the new products described below at Hannover Messe. More exclusive new developments will be revealed in separate press releases in the days leading up to the trade fair.

Simatic S7-1200 G2

Simatic S7-1200 G2 controllers are setting new standards for simple but high-precision automation applications. The new range of controllers enables a combination of advanced, efficient motion control functions with flexible and space-saving machine safety solutions. Simatic S7-1200 G2 controllers also provide entry into seamlessly scalable customer applications, while fulfilling the latest performance requirements for cost-efficient automation applications.

Efficient solution for hygiene challenges: Siemens presents ET 200clean for hygiene-sensitive sectors

Simatic ET 200clean is a solution for hygiene challenges in sectors such as food production: There’s a wide range of such challenges in hygiene-sensitive sectors such as food production and packaging. Contamination can lead to product recalls, and can also compromise productivity and cause increased costs. Stringent hygiene regulations must also be observed in order to ensure consumer safety. Simatic ET 200clean was developed in order to meet these challenges and optimize production processes. This product stands out thanks to its EHEDG-certified design which enables thorough 360° cleaning. The chemically resistant chassis material makes it extremely robust, even when high-pressure cleaners are used. The device also satisfies protection class IP69K, making it ideal for operation in challenging environments.

Sigreen Connect

Sigreen Connect will enable companies to automatically calculate their own emissions at product level in the future, and transmit the results to the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) management solution Sigreen. Combining these with the emissions from the supply chain (Scope 3), also calculated using Sigreen, provides an accurate PCF. This helps meet decarbonization requirements.

There are many benefits to automated emission recording at product level using Sigreen Connect. Manual work stages are kept to a minimum, and the data gathered is always up to date and accurate. Companies get a better overview of their own emissions, and they can make sound decisions about emission reductions and report these transparently to their stakeholders.

AWS IoT Sitewise Edge as an app on the Siemens Industrial Edge marketplace

The Siemens Industrial Edge ecosystem continues to grow: AWS IoT SiteWise Edge is now available on the Siemens Industrial Edge marketplace. From there, customers can use the app on Siemens Industrial Edge via a central app and device management system, combine it with many other apps and Edge devices from Siemens and other providers, and thus configure an IoT solution for their specific challenges. AWS IoT SiteWise Edge is on-premise software that’s part of the Industrial IoT Services portfolio of Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) and can record, process, and monitor device data locally, even without an Internet connection. That means companies can increase their product efficiency, improve manufacturing processes by monitoring KPIs, and optimize plant maintenance thanks to remote monitoring using event history and real-time data.
Siemens and AWS are thus combining the performance of industrial automation (OT) and the cloud (IT) and offer customers optimized machine-to-Edge and Edge-to-cloud integration for their shop floor.

Sinec Security Guard

The cloud-based Sinec Security Guard offers automated vulnerability mapping and security management optimized for industrial operators in OT environments. The software can automatically assign known cybersecurity vulnerabilities to the production assets of industrial companies. This way, industrial operators and automation experts without dedicated cybersecurity know-how can identify existing cybersecurity risks among their OT assets on the shop floor and receive a risk-based threat analysis. As a result, the software then recommends and prioritizes mitigation measures. Lastly, defined mitigation measures can be planned and tracked by the integrated task management within the tool. Sinec Security Guard will also offer a connection to Sentinel, Microsoft’s Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solution for proactive threat detection, investigation, and response. It is offered as-a-service (“SaaS”), is hosted by Siemens and will be available for purchase in July 2024 on the Siemens Xcelerator marketplace as well as on Siemens Digital Exchange.

Siemens Xcelerator for Digital Drivetrain: Comprehensive digitalization offering along the drivetrain value chain for greater efficiency and sustainability

With Siemens Xcelerator for Digital Drivetrain, Siemens is introducing a comprehensive range of IoT-capable hardware and software for the entire drivetrain from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio – for the first time at the Hannover Messe. This includes the areas of Drivetrain Design and Drivetrain Health.

Drivetrain Design offers tools for the design, simulation, and optimization of drivetrains in the design phase. To this end, Siemens is launching DriveSim Engineer, the successor to DriveSim Advanced. DriveSim Engineer makes it possible to create a digital twin of the drive in a virtual environment with all the parameters and configurations that correspond to the real drive. In addition to the new Sinamics S210 series, the new Sinamics G220 frequency inverters are now also available in the tool. Integration in TIA Portal simplifies the commissioning of drive systems.

Drivetrain Health offers sensor and connectivity solutions for the condition monitoring of drivetrains. Siemens is presenting two solutions for this area: a cloud-based solution and a PC-based solution. Both complement each other and can be used depending on requirements. With Drivetrain Analyzer Cloud, Siemens is combining the two applications Analyze MyDrives and Sidrive IQ Fleet into one innovative app. In addition to a new user interface, Drivetrain Analyzer Cloud offers users the option of connecting various drive components such as frequency inverters, motors or other rotating machines to a drivetrain and monitoring its status.

Another new product is the Connection Module IOT (CM IOT), which can be installed and put into operation in just a few minutes. The PC-based condition monitoring solution consists of three components, namely the new VIB (Vibration) and FPP (Fast Process Parameters) (CM FPP) connection modules, the Drivetrain Analyzer X-Tools software and the corresponding sensors and sensor cables. The CM VIB and CM FPP connectivity modules record vibration and analog signals at a sampling rate of 96 kHz. All sensor information can be recorded and transmitted synchronously. Users can now also analyze fast, intermittent machines such as automotive presses, cranes, or machine tools with two synchronous axes. Drivetrain Analyzer X-Tools is an expert tool for highly dynamic data acquisition up to 192kHz as well as for manual data analysis. Since X-Tools can connect to almost any data source, users can ideally use X-Tools as an analytics toolbox to combine their own analytics with elements of a pre-configured library. Both solutions help to improve machine availability and performance.
