“Sustainable thinking. Modular drive.” This is SEW-EURODRIVE’s motto at this year’s HANNOVER MESSE. The Bruchsal-based company was the first in the field of drive technology to standardize its gear units and motors and offer them in a modular system, which has since enabled millions of gearmotor combinations from a single source. The fact that this sustainable modular concept has proven its worth and is still part of the drive specialist’s DNA to this day is something the company will be making clear at its trade fair stand in Hanover. A typical example of this is the modular motor system, which also includes the jointly available accessories in addition to various energy-efficient motor variants.
The principle of SEW-EURODRIVE’s modular concept is to create the largest possible number of possible combinations with the smallest possible number of standardized variants. The advantages that this brings to the user in terms of flexibility and efficiency, and thus in terms of greater sustainability, can be seen in the example of the modular motor system of the drive and automation specialist, which has completely integrated all motors there, including a com-prehensive portfolio of accessories and options. This means that the right mo-tor with the required accessories is always available for almost any individual customer requirement, anywhere in the world. This is because the motors meet all important local approvals and certificates.
The DR… series includes 2-, 4-, 6- and 8-pole asynchronous and synchronous AC motors, as well as pole-changing motors and motors that fulfill a specific operating mode or are designed for special applications, such as for use in hygienic areas or potentially explosive applications. For dynamic applications where, for example, large loads need to be moved and positioned safely and precisely, the CM3C… series provides the right synchronous servomotors.
Almost all options and accessory components such as gear units, brakes, en-coders etc. from the SEW-EURODRIVE modular system are available for each of these motors from both series. The customers can therefore always combine the drive from this portfolio that is best suited to their particular appli-cation. This also applies to the new DR2C.. series with highly efficient IE5 mo-tors, which are now available up to size 132. Designed purely for inverter op-eration, these synchronous motors are equipped with integrated permanent magnet technology (IPM – Interior Permanent Magnet).
The servomotors in the CM3C… series are characterized by their high power density in combination with a very compact design. With their four sizes, these motors can cover standstill torques from 2.7 to 40 Nm. With rotors fitted with permanent magnets, the motors offer very high efficiency and thus ensure extremely energy-efficient operation. In conjunction with the corresponding encoder interfaces in two-cable or single-cable technology and compatibility with third-party encoder systems, these motors can be used very flexibly by customers. Thanks to this openness and the high efficiency class up to IE5 based on IEC 60034-30-2, users receive a particularly efficient and sustaina-ble drive solution.
