From June 18th to 20th, 2024, a trade fair will be taking place in Stuttgart that could not fit better into the time of change in the automotive industry. We’re talking about the Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Tech Expo Europe. The focus here is on e-mobility and Stäubli is highlighting its expertise in this future market at stand A10 in Hall 10.

The end of the combustion engine and the associated transformation of the automotive industry have a significant impact on production technology and robotics. New processes, new markets, new requirements and also new suppliers determine what is happening.

Stäubli already has plenty of expertise and references for the new applications and can support the automotive industry as a competent partner. Stäubli Robotics is presenting its dynamic four- and six-axis robots at the trade fair, which are perfect for all possible applications relating to electromobility due to their special property profile – cleanroom suitability, acid resistance, resistance to moisture or extreme dryness.

With an innovative demo cell, Stäubli Robotics demonstrates the performance of its ultra-fast SCARA series when stacking electrodes in battery production. Today, the world’s leading manufacturers already rely on the precise four-axle machines of the TS2 series, which are characterized by their high dynamics and the associated shortest cycle times in this process. These robots have also been proving their worth for some time in downstream processes as well as in assembly and inspection.

Four and six axis robots for all applications

Even in battery module production, where the highest demands are placed on both precision and cleanroom suitability of the robots, thousands of Stäubli robots are in use and score points with their hygienic design.

Completely different properties are required when filling the battery cells with electrolyte. This must take place at very low humidity of less than one percent – a requirement that is an exclusion criterion for many standard robots. In contrast, all Stäubli four- and six-axis robots are qualified and certified for these hyperdry environments.

When it comes to assembling electronic components such as the electronic units in the battery pack, controls, AC/DC converters and the like, an ESD-friendly environment plays a crucial role. For this reason, all Stäubli kinematics are available in ESD versions. These machines are also convincing when it comes to reliably avoiding any uncontrolled electrostatic discharge.

The large number of available special versions of all Stäubli robots allows the manufacturer to offer an optimal solution for almost every application in the field of e-mobility. They want to prove this at the trade fair in Stuttgart.
