Intelligent manufacturing starts with sensors. At SPS 2024, Bäumer will be showcasing how its latest sensors enable innovative solutions in factory automation. The focus is on versatile ultrasonic sensors with the unique NexSonic technology and groundbreaking new encoder models. “As one of the technology leaders in sensor technology, we want to delight visitors with our innovations and inspire them to develop profitable ideas for intelligent automation,” says Bäumer CEO Oliver Vietze.

With its technologically superior sensors and its own extensive portfolio, Bäumer is underlining its claim at this year’s SPS to give customers a head start with well-thought-out solutions. These new developments are among the special highlights of SPS 2024.

Ultrasonic sensors with NexSonic technology: With NexSonic, Baumer has developed a significantly better ultrasonic technology that sets new standards. It allows for response times of just 10 milliseconds, minimal blind zones (10 mm) and smart filter functions. Thanks to the adjustable sound beam (narrow, medium, wide), the sensor can be optimally adapted to the application.

Innovative encoder technology for drive control: The compact bearingless encoder EB260 combines the precision of optical scanning with the robustness and cost-effectiveness of magnetic systems. Baumer LowHarmonics signal processing with automatic calibration eliminates age-related and mechanically induced signal errors, ensuring the highest precision and control quality. The versatile application possibilities of the EB260 create the basis for rethinking drive technology.

New heavy-duty encoder series with unique all-round protection: Bäumer encoders under the “Hübner-Berlin” brand have been the benchmark for heavy-duty applications for 70 years. With the new HOG800 series, Bäumer is now presenting the next generation of these successful models with even greater protection against incorrect wiring, current surges, overvoltages and mechanical stress. Bäumer has made the smart features of its comprehensive industrial encoder platform available for heavy-duty applications. This includes parameterization of resolution, power level and direction of rotation as well as integration into the Baumer Sensor Suite. With the new HOG800 series, Baumer is once again raising the bar for heavy-duty encoders.

Future-proof encoder for functional safety: With the safety-certified absolute encoder EAM580RS, Baumer already meets the future restraint safety requirements of the latest safety product standard for encoders IEC 61800-5-3:202 (SIL2 according to IEC 61800-5- 3:2021, PLd according to IEC 61508 and ISO 13849:2023). Safety certification of the robust magnetic encoder by TÜV Rheinland reduces documentation and integration efforts.

50 series – the world’s first compact process sensor: With the new 50 series, Baumer brings the performance of the proven Combi series to an even more compact housing. The space-saving sensor features high performance in pressure, temperature and conductivity measurement as well as a uniform operating concept with touch display. Users benefit from excellent process visualization and easy commissioning.

Unleash the full potential of IO-Link with Baumer: At SPS, Bäumer explains why it is the first choice for IO-Link sensor solutions. Motto: Complete systems from sensor to PLC from a single source. In the sensor workshop, anyone can get a cable and connect and test the sensor to an IO-Link master and a laptop in just a few steps.

The Baumer SPS stand (Hall 4A, Stands 345 and 351) will again offer many opportunities to test and experience the unique Baumer sensor solutions for yourself. After the huge success of the last sensor workshop at SPS, Baumer is again relying on this exciting hands-on concept: By trying out the sensors and talking to Baumer’s experts, visitors can gain new ideas for their own designs and production.
