Weidmüller launches PROCON-Connect app to the market. The software tool enables users to easily record machine data, pre-process it and make it available for other applications. This simplifies data exchange and speeds up installation. Users can easily connect the software to each other and to the cloud.

More and more companies are using open software for automation to flexibly respond to market requirements. Collect data from machines to implement energy management, predictive maintenance or remote maintenance. To implement these applications, users need to link automation software from OT with application software from IT. Until now, connecting different software tools required complex engineering and costly extensions. PROCON-Connect simplifies this process. It acts as a link between different domains and facilitates data exchange. The application is available for Windows and Linux as well as a Docker container for the Weidmüller operating system u-OS.
PROCON-Connect does not require any programming knowledge. Users can easily connect different software applications through configuration. PROCON-Connect is configured web-based in a browser, so no separate engineering tools are required.
1) Data Collection: The user configures the driver connection. A few details, such as the source URL, are enough to establish a connection. You can also configure other parameters, such as the time between updates. Machine data integration can be performed with just a few clicks.
2) Data Pre-Processing: Data can be aggregated in an internal database or linked to metadata. Scaling can also be easily configured. Furthermore, the data is made available to other applications via InfluxDB.
3) Data communication: With the help of standard communication technologies such as MQTT, data can be sent to the cloud easily and securely. The data can also be sent to Weidmüller’s easyConnect and ResMa solutions and further analyzed there as part of IIoT cloud solutions and energy and production management.
The cloud connection is also fundamentally bidirectional, allowing machine data to be changed from the cloud depending on the application. If the user needs to change the control of the entire machine park, PROCON-CONNECT makes this possible via MQTT. No manual adjustments or VPN connections are required.

PROCON-Connect is tightly integrated into the Weidmüller software portfolio. The tool connects user software such as the WEB-HMI PROCON-WEB to the industrial service platform easyConnect or the energy management system ResMa® without any programming effort. The PROCON-Connect app is also included in the free entry-level version of the u-OS operating system.
