To celebrate the company’s centennial, the automation expert Festo has created a remarkable machine that will debut at the Hannover Messe 2025. Inspired by the concept of a Rube Goldberg machine, it does not create a particular item but illustrates the narrative of motion in automation technology that has greatly impacted the family-run business.
A completely new kind of application is in development in a laboratory on the Festo campus in Esslingen to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary. Numerous materials and technical tools are being introduced to this laboratory, and a significant group from various company departments is collaborating on a remarkable “anniversary display.”
The application will showcase Festo’s varied abilities and vast knowledge in automation technology, along with its creative mindset to turn the impossible into reality. Ultimately, creativity and a trailblazing attitude have been embedded in the company’s essence since its inception. Similar to how a butterfly flapping its wings can set off a series of reactions, occasionally a minor nudge results in major industrial transformations.
From a Minor Trigger to the Whole Realm of Movement
The Festo eMotionButterfly initiates movement in the machine. This drive initiates an intriguing voyage of motions within the apparatus: into a realm of industrial automation where stagnation is not permissible, defined by innovation and advancement.
Through the “Incredible Machine”, Festo reflects on its past while primarily focusing on the future, showcasing its enthusiasm for motion technologies—whether they are pneumatic, electric, digital, or a mix of these.
