This application note provides information on how to configure an RS-485 communication timeout and an RS-485 delay time for Delta industrial automation products.
To increase communication efficiency and shorten the setting time, users can configure an RS-485 communication timeout and an RS-485 delay time according to Table 1.

When a MODBUS master station connects to slave stations, the MODBUS master station sends commands to the slave stations. The slave stations depend on the commands they receive. Because there are differences in response time and character, communication errors may occur.
In order to meet the time needed by each slave station, the communication timeout time and delay time can be set at the master station. If the time needed by the slave station is different, the communication timeout time and delay time at the master station will be the maximum communication timeout time and maximum delay between the slave stations.
