TechnoPharm takes place again in Nürnberg from 23–25 April 2013 under the motto of “Pharma. Manufacturing. Excellence”. The exhibition is the established European innovation forum for the development and manufacture of solid, semi-solid and liquid forms of drugs. The motto says it all: sterile technology, validation, GMP, analysis, packaging and anti-counterfeiting are just a few of the current themes the around 300 exhibitors here present to the pharmaceutical industry for developing unused potential. Special highlights for experts on sterile technology are the Cleanroom Village and CleanRoomCongress, where they find the state of the art in cleanroom technology. A visit to the parallel POWTECH, the International Trade Fair for Mechanical Processing Technologies and Instrumentation, is also worthwhile for operators and planners of pharmaceutical production plants. Tickets are available online from 13 March 2013 at www.technopharm.de/ticketshop. The online tickets provide cheaper and faster admission to the exhibition duo − without standing in long queues at the ticket desk

It’s no secret that the pharma industry is still affected by pressure of costs due to the health care segment. This is why drug manufacturers are urgently working together with plant and component manufacturers to optimize production routines and maximize production safety at the same time. TechnoPharm 2013 with some

300 exhibitors from 13 countries reflects this trend once again.

The exhibitors show many innovative solutions to make the individual production stages even more efficient on the one hand, but the effective coupling of individual stages also optimizes the overall process. Here the safety for products and people is of outstanding importance, as a life science product is only profitable if it is safely manufactured.

Leading-edge technologies for Manufacturing Excellence

Visitors from the pharma industry can obtain comprehensive information about new developments and improvements at TechnoPharm. The event offers tailor-made solutions of the highest quality, which are designed specifically for GMP-compliant production routines and environments.

Pharmacists not only find perfect information on handling powders and granules at TechnoPharm, but also at the parallel POWTECH, the leading exhibition for mechanical processing technologies. About a quarter of the 700 POWTECH exhibitors also show process equipment for screening, mixing, milling, drying, conveying or dosing in versions adapted to the high pharmaceutical and hygiene requirements of the life science industry.

A total of about 500 exhibitors at the two exhibitions present high-tech solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, including more than 280 exhibitors with GMP-compliant production technology. About 100 exhibitors present the most modern technology for laboratory work and development in the pharma industry. Filling technology with more than 60 exhibitors is also a strongly represented segment. More than

50 exhibitors show the latest packaging technology. About 80 exhibitors offer solutions for quality control, quality assurance and quality management.

Also well represented is the analysis segment, where some 60 companies, including technology leaders like Malvern and Sympatec, present the world’s most comprehensive range of products for particle analysis. The product spectrum is supplemented by some 25 companies offering wet or gas chemical analysis processes, incl. Büchi, Hach Lange and Arta. So TechnoPharm and POWTECH show the latest innovations for analysis − from particle measurement in the nano range to the implementation of analysis in sterile processes.

Focus on cleanrooms

Cleanroom technology is also a focus at this year’s TechnoPharm. In the Cleanroom Village and at the CleanRoomCongress, specialists in cleanroom and sterile technology find out how the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the EU can be implemented in practice and integrated into plants.

Some 100 exhibitors show products for cleanrooms at the exhibition. More than

20 of these highly specialized exhibitors and an Expert Forum with presentations are concentrated around the marketplace of the Cleanroom Village in hall 9. Everyone interested in cleanrooms will find ample opportunities for networking and talking shop during the Village Hour in the late afternoon. More information is available at: www.technopharm.de/cleanroom

Speakers from market leaders like CSL Behring and Boehringer Ingelheim provide valuable information on regulatory compliance, construction and modification of cleanroom areas, monitoring and innovations in cleanroom technology at the CleanRoomCongress from 24−25 April 2013. The congress is organized by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Pharmazeutische Verfahrenstechnik (International Association for Pharmaceutical Technology) and Concept Heidelberg. Detailed information on the programme is obtainable at: www.cleanroom-congress.org

Varied supporting programme on pharmaceutical production

The broad-based supporting programme provides more up-to-the-minute know-how on safe, efficient and careful production. At the Exhibitors Forum in hall 6, industry experts meet daily from 10:00 to 16:30 to discuss the latest developments in modern process technology. Hygienic design − the development of plants and plant components that are easy to clean and restore to a residue-free state – is the subject of a series of presentations organized by the publisher Hüthig Verlag together with the European Hygienic Design Group (EHEDG). Visitors can find innovative solutions for anti-counterfeiting packaging at a special show in hall 6. This covers packaging machinery, traceability solutions, folding boxes, closures, labels, sustainable materials and energy-efficient manufacture.

Another series of presentations devoted to packaging is organized by the editorial staff of the magazines “Pharmaproduktion” and “cav chemie anlagen verfahren” at the Exhibitors Forum in hall 6. Under the motto of “From tablet press to blister”, six presentations by representatives from companies such as Hüttlin, Innojet and Fette Compacting reflect the whole process chain − from preparing the mixture of active ingredients to be processed, tabletting and finishing the pressed tablets to blistering and labelling the primary and secondary packaging.
