SPIROPLAN® gear units can be put to a wide variety of uses and can be utilized in almost all applications in the lower to mid torque range. Thanks to their two-stage and three-stage design, the new W..29 and W..39 gear units open up a wide spectrum of gear ratios while also offering a high level of efficiency over the entire gear ratio range. A torque range of up to 130 or up to 200 Nm makes them suitable for a whole host of applications.

SPIROPLAN® gear units and gearmotors have been a core element of the gear unit portfolio at SEW-EURODRIVE for many years. The special SPIROPLAN® gearing facilitates a cost-effective gear unit design and is also a dependable and wear-free right-angle gear unit stage at the same time.

In the case of the W..9 gear units, the SPIROPLAN® gearing is situated in the first stage and has a relatively small gear ratio. The second and – depending on the overall gear ratio – third gear unit stages feature helical gearing. As a result, the overall efficiency of the gear unit is very high, even in the case of large overall gear ratios. The three-stage design can achieve overall gear ratios of i = 188.47 (W..29) or i = 210.49 (W..39).

This helps extend the existing advantages of the SPIROPLAN® gear units to include high efficiency and an even wider gear ratio range, thereby opening up additional opportunities to utilize the range.

When it comes to connecting to the customer application, the new W..9 gear units can be ordered as a solid shaft with flange, as a shaft-mounted design, with a hollow shaft and key, with a hollow shaft and shrink disc, and with the TorqLOC® hollow shaft mounting system. Using the tried-and-tested SEW flange interface for motor mounting ensures the gear units can be combined with the comprehensive modular motor system from SEW-EURODRIVE.

The advantages for customers include the product’s light aluminum housing, which helps achieve lightweight machine designs or save weight in mobile applications. The high level of efficiency across the entire gear ratio range helps produce a very energy-efficient gear unit that runs quietly at any speed. The service concept has been improved so that only standard oils are used.

The universal SEW interface ensures the gear unit can be combined with all SEW motors, including options, and makes it possible to add adapters for IEC motors or servomotors and covers with an input shaft. This familiar connection also means customers can carry out service and maintenance work themselves. Alternatively, there is always the option of using the global SEW-EURODRIVE service network.
