The highly efficient AZ series of stepper motors from Oriental Motor incorporates a mechanical absolute sensor to fulfill the essential requirements for position control in their compact housing. Now, new drivers with PROFINET have been added to the product range.

The sophisticated connection enables continuous communication between IT and production networks, allowing the closed-loop stepper motors to be easily integrated into applications with state-of-the-art communication environments. In this way, the AZ series contributes to fast and secure data transmission, connecting to the network is straightforward via standard Ethernet cables.

The range of drivers includes models compatible with PROFINET, EtherCAT and EtherNet/IP fieldbus systems. These Ethernet-based fieldbus systems facilitate both the setting and execution of operation data, and the ability to adjust various parameters at high transmission speeds, as well as the output of alarm and drive monitoring information. As all commands and status messages are transmitted in real time, the movements of several synchronously operating stepper motors can be executed with high reliability and precision.

Fast direct connection for all AZ series stepper motors

The direct connection of the AZ stepper motors network-compatible drivers to a higher-level controller means that only a single data cable is required. This reduces the effort of wiring, saves working time and prevents wiring errors. Two driver variants are available for 24 and 48 VDC as well as for 230 VAC.
Since the AZ stepper motor is also used to drive Oriental Motor’s electric linear guides, electric cylinders, rotary tables, linear actuators, electric grippers, and rack and pinion systems, the advantages of this drive system can are applicable in a wide variety of applications.

The AZ series motors are available in flange sizes from 20 – 90 mm, and achieve holding torques of up to 157 Nm in combination with gearboxes. Thanks to their low heat generation characteristics, they are also suitable for continuous operation.
