The AX-308EA0MA1T, the first device from the AX-3 series PLC, is a compact mid-range multi-axis motion controller based on CODESYS platform. It is also a flexible solution which is available for a wide range of applications.

The integrated EtherCAT interface enables it to control up to 8 servo drives as well as inverters, remoteI/O modules and 3rd-party devices. In addition, up to 4 pulse train drives can be controlled by the embedded fast digital outputs.

When connecting to other devices, processing machine-to-machine data exchange or communicating with the upper levels of the automation hierarchy, its multiple built-in communication protocols, such as Modbus TCP/RTU, Ethernet/IP and OPC UA makes it ideal for Industry 4.0.

Despite its compact size (only 110x88x100mm), many other interfaces are included, namely, 16 digital inputs, 8 digital outputs, 2 serial ports, 2 incremental encoder interfaces and 1 SSI port. The compatibility with the PLC AS series extends the system with digital, analog, temperature and load cell modules that can be mounted directly to the right side of the CPU.

The AX series comes in combination with the DIADesigner-AX, the new powerful tool that is integrated with the CODESYS in DIAStudio environment. It offers many advantages for users and developers, such as:

  • Supports of all IEC61131-3 PLC languages (from ladder to structured text, including the support of Object Oriented Programming)
  • Planning and execution of both simple and complex applications for motion control, including
  • single-axis and multi-axis movements in accordance with PLCopen standard
