Bosch Rexroth AG acquired a minority share in BRUSA HyPower AG and wants to intensify the collaboration in the off-highway market. With BRUSA HyPower products, Bosch Rexroth complements its eLION product portfolio for the electrification of off-highway vehicles and enables customers to quickly and easily implement electric drive architectures. This means that mobile working machines used in construction, agriculture, logistics or communal services can work without generating any local emissions – thus making them more environmentally friendly and quieter. Bosch Rexroth acquired the corresponding shares in BRUSA HyPower on July 4, 2022. Both sides have agreed to keep the amount of the investment confidential.
A significant proportion of CO₂ emissions is generated during work at construction sites, in ports or in mining. This is where Bosch Rexroth is working to electrify mobile equipment. Bosch Rexroth offers a comprehensive portfolio of components for electrification with its eLION range to support and advance the electrification of off-highway equipment. The eLION range includes as many as 80 motor variants, scaled according to output and size, corresponding gear units, inverters, software solutions and state-of-the-art hydraulics. Going forward, the DC/DC converters and onboard chargers of BRUSA HyPower will provide the perfect complement to this broad range.
“The trend toward sustainable, locally emission-free mobile working machines opens up good growth opportunities for our business. About 30 percent of off-highway applications will be electrified by 2030 – with our joint offering, we address an additional market volume of around 1.5 billion euros,” according to Thomas Donato, Member of the Board of Management at Bosch Rexroth AG who is responsible for the Mobile Hydraulics product division. “Bosch Rexroth has the widest range on offer in the off-highway with components, that are optimally matched to each other. With this, we want to further optimize driving and working with mobile working machines. That’s why BRUSA HyPower is an important partner for us.”
Ming Jiang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of BRUSA HyPower, adds: “Through our cooperation, we will be able to better meet customer needs and shorten development times. Our chargers and DC/DC converters are seamlessly integrated into the Rexroth product range in terms of their functionality and operation. Moreover, we cover a wide range of applications, thereby benefiting the manufacturers of off-highway working machines.”
Since 1985, BRUSA has been developing high-performance components for electrically powered vehicles exclusively for civilian applications. BRUSA HyPower AG, which was carved out in 2021, currently has around 220 associates and specializes in electrical energy conversion systems. For Bosch Rexroth, the Swiss company will develop and manufacture new products of the highest efficiency and robustness for use in mobile machinery.
As part of the transaction, two renowned financial investors have also acquired minority interests in BRUSA HyPower.
