The Bürkert valve island Type 8653 AirLINE Field with protection class IP65/IP67 allows the installation of pneumatic pilot valves directly on-site at the process valves without a control cabinet. This enhances flexibility for the integration into the respective automation concept, reduces installation costs and saves valuable space in the production facilities.

Valve islands for applications in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food and beverage industries should be located as closely as possible to the controlling process valves to minimise the installation effort. In addition to the tried-and-tested valve island Type 8652 AirLINE for installation in control cabinets, Bürkert Fluid Control Systems now also offers the extremely compact Type 8653 AirLINE Field module as a variant for direct field use. This new valve island fulfils the requirements for protection class IP65/IP67 and can be installed close to actuators without further protection. This minimises the material usage, reduces the piping / tubing effort as well as the compressed air consumption.

Flexible automation concepts can be implemented with the new field module, which is available in three variants with IO-Link, CANopen or büS (Bürkert system bus). It can be integrated directly into IO-Link or CANopen networks. Alternatively, it can be networked via büS with various Bürkert devices, but is also able to communicate via any common bus system using the Type ME43 gateway module. The device is easy to start up and supports extensive diagnostic and maintenance functions.

Further improvements to process reliability
Communication within a closed-ring topology and standard check valves in the exhaust duct for preventing unintentional switching caused by pressure peaks help to enhance process reliability. Numerous diagnostic functions can also be activated directly on the device. The results are displayed as icons or plain text using the LCD screen of the field module.

This makes it easier to understand the assignment of displayed messages and saves valuable time, especially during commissioning and maintenance. During daily operations, the display provides at-a-glance information about the operating status based on the NAMUR standard when performing routine inspections. The hardware is designed for field use, with a well-conceived installation system enabling fixture in a variety of positions, allowing installation even in installations where space is sparse. If more space is available, standard rail installation is also possible.
