The SG draw-wire (or string pot) sensor series from Celesco (USA) expands on the SP series and pushes out the measurement range to 3 m. The series comes in 80-inch or 120-inch full stroke range options with four different output signals: CANopen or J1939, 10-kΩ potentiometer for a voltage divider signal, 4-to-20 mA, and 0-to-10 V.
EVERY SENSOR IS BUILT WITH a polycarbonate body designed to withstand common application abuses from moderate impacts to harsh chemicals and they have IP67 protection to stand up to most factory and outdoor applications. The sensors have an operating temperature of -40 °C to +90 °C. The “free-release” tolerant design helps guard against cable failure up to accidental free-release. The rubber snubber at the base of the eyelet helps cushion any accidental free release up to a distance of 15 inch. The default bit-rate is 125 kbit/s, other configurable values are 250 kbit/s, 500 kbit/s, or 1 Mbit/s. Both sensors ship with a 5-pin M12 connector and additional corsets are available.
The SGJ communicates via SAE J1939 and has been designed for mobile or other factory applications. The proprietary Parameter Group (PG) is transmitted with a frequency of 5 ms by default. Other settings are 20 ms, 50 ms, or 100 ms.
The SGH is a CANopen sensor for factory automation. The product complies with CiA 301 (version 4.0.2) and CiA 406 (version 3.2). Cam switches are not supported. Bit-rate, node ID and data rate can be set using internal DIP-switch settings or programmed using the CAN network. The default PDO transmission period lies at 50 ms. The device supports Heartbeat and Emergency messages.
