SEW EURODRIVE is showcasing the SBM safe brake module for control cabinet installation. Complementing the MOVI C® modular automation system, it means customers can obtain flexible and safe drive solutions from a single supplier.
The SBM safe brake module from SEW EURODRIVE supplies power to electric brakes and controls their operation. It ensures safe disconnection of brakes in line with EN 60204-1 stop category 0, fail-safe protection against restart in accordance with EN 1037, and compliance with EN ISO 13849-1 performance level d. If the holding brake is disconnected from the power and thus de-energized, it engages and slows down the motor shaft.
Thanks to the extended power range, safe switching of brakes with an output of up to 250 W is possible. The brake module comes with a shield plate and fasteners for control cabinet installation. Further accessories such as a mounting base and a mounting rail adapter are also available, giving users the necessary flexibility when it comes to control cabinet installation.
The modules can be mounted in three different ways, either next to or below the inverters. They can be screwed directly onto the rear panel of the control cabinet, fitted using the optional mounting bracket for concealed cable routing, or attached to a mounting rail by means of an adapter.
Along with safety-rated brakes and brake testing functions for the inverters, the modules enhance the portfolio for safe, end-to-end drive solutions that can be customized to suit the relevant application.
