Making engineering easy is a prime objective of Lenze, the globally operating specialist in Motion Centric Automation. As a solutions supplier for the automation of machines, Lenze works with and supports its customers in all phases of a machine’s life-cycle, at the same time focussing closely on typical applications in the consumer goods area. Lenze is one of the few suppliers in the market to offer a comprehensive and harmonised portfolio of products and services: from control and visualisation to electronic drives and electro-mechanical equipment as well as application software, engineering tools and services – all from a single source. At Interpack, Lenze will be presenting its brand-new “Easy Machine 2.0”, a very unusual creation which the company will be using to demonstrate its extensive knowledge of applications and its ability to generate solutions in the areas of packaging technology, robotics, handling equipment, and conveying systems. In a series of daily Business Talks, Lenze will provide an exclusive platform for the exchange of knowledge between machine operators and mechanical engineers. This will take place at stand 6E79 in hall 6 from 8 to 14 May in Düsseldorf.

Ensuring greater flexibility, shortening the time-to-market for increasingly intelligent machines and, at the same time, keeping control of engineering times and costs are the present-day challenges that mechanical engineers have to face. The solution is to be found in the consistent modularisation of machines. “This is the path we are following with an approach to engineering that is based on a high degree of standardisation and the re-use of software. Our portfolio is another key aspect of our response to the above challenges in that it enables us to consider control and motion functions holistically and thus offer an overall system made up of closely harmonised parts. We see ourselves as a solutions partner for a very simple reason; we not only have a profound knowledge of machine technology but also understand the processes of our customers and of the consumer goods industry as a whole. Our aim to support our customers during the entire life-cycle of a machine and, in doing so, take as much of the load off their backs as possible. In this way, we are able to offer easy solutions, even in times of increasing complexity”, explained Dr. Thomas Cord, Managing Director of Lenze Automation.

Dr. Cord continued: “Small and medium-sized mechanical engineering companies are especially important for us. Their developers and design engineers want a strong partner who backs them up along the entire value-added chain. This is where our know-how and years of experience in applications can help. But we also know that engineering represents a heavy burden on mechanical engineering companies. This is why we have established a new part of our company called Lenze Engineering, a classical autonomous service provider that can carry out complete automation projects and create a turnkey solution even on the premises of end users.”

Due to the increasing individualisation of products, the requirements placed on production facilities and the machines used in them are growing. The times needed to set up machines are becoming shorter and shorter – and this places even more demands on the people who actually operate them. Lenze’s answer to this trend is its new user-friendly gesture-controlled operator control system for process visualisation that makes it much easier for personnel to operate their machines. A successful combination of the latest hardware, innovative software and an ergonomic operator control concept – a further step in the direction of easy engineering.
