From 24 to 26 September 2024, the European packaging industry will once again come together at FACHPACK, the trade fair for packaging, technologies and processes. More than 1,400 exhibitors at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre will be showcasing packaging materials and ingredients, packaging machines and technologies as well as key processes in automation, marking and labelling, packaging printing and intralogistics.

The main theme of this year’s FACHPACK is “Packaging in Transition”, aptly representing the current changes in the industry, which are also reflected in the 11 exhibition halls and the first-class supporting programme. Visitors from the consumer and industrial goods sectors can look forward to an extensive programme of talks at the PACKBOX, INNOVATIONBOX and SOLPACK 5.0 Forums as well as interesting special shows and an award ceremony.

Heike Slotta, Executive Director Exhibitions at NürnbergMesse, is upbeat: “Following our scheduled break in 2023, we are now heading towards the home straight for FACHPACK 2024. The preparations are in full swing and everything is coming together. The “class reunion” for the packaging industry, a genuine highlight in our customers’ calendar, will soon be taking place in Nuremberg. I cordially invite all packaging specialists to come to the exhibition centre in September: We create the future, so make sure that you’re part of it!”

It is especially pleasing that FACHPACK 2024 is positioning itself as a continental event. Heike Slotta: “54 percent of exhibitors come from Germany, the rest from the economically developing German-speaking regions and neighboring countries. Turkey is particularly well represented.”

In this context, it is also worth mentioning the new exhibitors, who will make up around 20 percent of all exhibitors at FACHPACK 2024. The proportion from abroad is very high, at 70 percent.

FACHPACK sees itself as a source of inspiration for the industry. In addition to the extensive product exhibit, this is also reflected in the talk program in the three forums PACKBOX (Hall 4), INNOVATIONBOX (Hall 2) and SOLPACK 5.0 (Hall 3). All three forums address current industry topics such as the new PPWR regulation, circular economy, automation and AI, alternative packaging solutions and new fiber raw materials.

Important partners from the packaging industry have designed the PACKBOX program and invite interested participants to listen and take part in the discussion. The forum will be attended by a number of key speakers, including Matthias Mahr from the specialist magazine mittelPraxis (September 24/25), Johannes Bergmair from Dr. Pack Experts and the World Packaging Organization (WPO) (September 25) and Oliver Berndt from the German Packaging Association (dvi) (September 26). At the INNOVATIONBOX Forum, registered exhibitors will present their new products and processes in compact presentations. Well-known presenters Nina Schönrock and Petra Bindl will lead the program. The SOLPACK 5.0 Forum is dedicated to sustainable packaging solutions and will be led and moderated by Peter Desiléts and Volker Muche, Managing Directors of the packaging design agency Pacoon GmbH.

This year, FACHPACK is introducing an exciting program element – the “Pavilion of Alternative Packaging Solutions”, which shows examples of alternatives to common materials and offers insight into future possibilities. In the fully booked pavilion in Hall 3, 13 companies will be showcasing solutions such as compostable plastic bags and tea bags, cushioning materials made from cereal husks and packaging made from sugar cane (bagasse). The SOLPACK 5.0 Forum is also part of this pavilion. Throughout the three days of the fair, visitors can expect a varied program and interesting talks. A total of 35 packaging experts and exhibitors from the pavilion will give short lectures.
