FANUC is expanding its activities in the field of vocational training: The world’s leading manufacturer of industrial robots has entered a partnership as a premium sponsor of the educational organisation WorldSkills Europe. The aim is to promote young talents who want to take up a profession in the field of industrial robotics. In order to draw greater attention to this promising occupational field and to convince more young people to work with robots, the two partners agreed to jointly organise Europe-wide competitions for aspiring robot system integrators.

Shinichi Tanzawa, President and CEO of FANUC Europe is looking forward to the cooperation: “We hope that as many young people as possible will acquire professional skills through our partnership with WorldSkills Europe and that it will help them to expand their career opportunities.” Teija Ripattila, CEO of WorldSkills Europe, adds: “FANUC’s support will ensure that we can offer EuroSkills competitors access to the latest technological advances in the automation and manufacturing industry.”

On an international level, FANUC as Global Sponsor and WorldSkills have already been cooperating since 2018 to host the World Skills Championships. This year, the “WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition” was hosted at different venues on several continents due to the Corona pandemic. The decisive competition in the field of industrial robotics, “Robot Systems Integration”, with eleven participating teams, took place from 17 to 20 October in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg.

As a Premium Sponsor of WorldSkills Europe, FANUC will in the future support the organisation of the Robot Systems Integration skill competition at the European Championship of Young Professionals – EuroSkills. The next EuroSkills Competion is scheduled for 5 to 9 September 2023, taking place in the city of Gdańsk, Poland. EuroSkills Gdańsk 2023 will welcome 600 skilled young professionals from 32 countries, who will participate in competitions and demonstrations in more than 40 different skills and trades. Around 100,000 visitors from across Poland and abroad are expected to attend.
