The innovative closed-loop stepper motors from Oriental Motor’s AZ series for flange dimensions of 42 mm and 60 mm are now available with a new plug connection. By using the highly efficient drives, not only the energy consumption of machines can be significantly reduced. The machine cycle is also shortened because the motors approach the zero position at high speed.
Oriental Motor has added two versions with flange dimensions of 42 mm and 60 mm to its proven AZ series stepper motors. A new feature is a plug connection that is protected against dust and strong jets of water (IP66). The cable length between motor and driver can be up to 10 m.
The closed-loop stepper motors are characterized by their high level of efficiency, which means they consume 47 percent less energy than conventional steppers. Since the drives are equipped with a mechanical absolute sensor, no external sensor is required that could disturb the positioning accuracy. Systemic factors such as B. changing loads no longer affect the accuracy of the zero position. Therefore, the motors of the AZ series approach the zero position at high speed, so that the machine cycle is significantly reduced.
In addition to the standard version, the stepper motors are also available in a version with an electromagnetic brake. For flexible cabling, Oriental Motor also offers the AZ drives with three different cable outlet directions. All previous AZD drivers including the versions for Profinet, EtherCAT and EtherNet/IP are available as drivers. In addition, Oriental also offers mini drivers for the AZ series stepper motors, which are significantly more compact than the single-axis drivers and are ideal for use in applications with small installation spaces.
All drives of the AZ series can be configured with the programming software MEXE02, which also contains various monitoring functions. In combination with the MRC01 robot controller, the stepper motors can be easily integrated into self-constructed in-house robots. Thanks to the low heat generation, the closed loop drives are also suitable for continuous operation.
