The DBS36 and DBS50 are the latest incremental encoders from SICK. Due to practice-oriented optimizations, they provide a high degree of versatility. A large number of preferred types available ex warehouse ensure fast delivery capacity of the easy-to-mount encoders.

ase of installation constitutes the outstanding feature of the DBS36 and the DBS50. Therefore, they are the first two encoders that SICK markets under the brand name EASIMA – “easy to mount in any application.” Accordingly, they deliver convincing performance due to their well thought-out mounting design. For instance, a special housing geometry permits nearly any cable outlet and thus optimum cable routing. The solid shaft versions of the encoders feature several hole patterns at the same time. In this way, the same encoder can be used on the one hand in different applications; on the other hand, the universal connection mechanics allows easy switching from third-party products to the DBS36 or DBS50 without any further changes. An additional servo groove in the housing permits installation using servo clamps. The hollow shaft version of the product family is also convincing because of its versatility: The standard diameter for the hollow shaft is 8 mm; with the corresponding accessories, it may be reduced to 5 mm and 6 mm. Another well-designed element is the layout of the stator coupling: By means of oblong holes aligned at an angle, the encoder can be mounted on both a 42-mm and a 46-mm bolt circle. Moreover, the bolts for fastening the shaft are very easy to access in these encoders, which facilitates installation significantly.

Ruggedness improved further

On the one hand, the DBS36 and DBS50 are oriented towards cost-critical applications, but on the other hand, they are convincing due to their high-quality appearance. The housing and flange made of aluminum, IP 65 enclosure rating, enlarged bearings for more resistance against shock and vibrations, as well as increased radial and axial load-bearing capacity also provide for maximum possible ruggedness of the incremental encoders. Speaking of increments, the devices allow executing all numbers of lines between 100 and 2,500.

Fast delivery capacity of preferred types guaranteed

Based on the experience of using existing product families, SICK has defined more than 70 preferred types for the new EASIMA incremental encoders. They represent the most common requirements concerning mechanics, interface, cable length, and number of lines. They are available for delivery ex warehouse at short notice – just the same as varied accessories that make the DBS36 and DBS50 usable even more universally.
