MOVI-C® MOVIDRIVE® application inverters can be flexibly expanded using plug-in cards, as appropriate to the application. In addition to inputs, outputs, and cards for additional position measuring systems, there are now five functional safety expansion cards for these devices. All cards have four safe inputs that can be used for logical operations.
The CSS31A and CSA31 versions can analyze an external encoder in addition to the motor encoder. This means the safety cards are ideal for storage/retrieval systems, cranes, and hoists. Alongside speed functions such as SLS (Safely Limited Speed) and SDI (Safe Direction), the CSA31A can also be used to implement safe position functions such as SLP (Safely Limited Position) and SCA (Safe Cam). What’s more, there are two safe outputs for safely and securely transferring statuses to external devices, for example. If more safe inputs/outputs are needed, further function modules can be connected via the EtherCAT® interface or SEW-EURODRIVE’s own SbusPLUS protocol.
Although the STO safe stop function to Performance Level PL e is already integrated into the inverter, these cards make it possible to achieve safe brake control and positioning, too. Every application – no matter how simple or complex – can thus be implemented cost-effectively. Safe communication with an overarching safety controller can use the PROFIsafe, Safety over EtherCAT®, or CIP SafetyTM protocols via the fieldbus interface on the inverter. MOVI-C® MOVIDRIVE® application inverters can therefore be flexibly integrated into customer-specific control concepts.
Simple safety functions such as STO (Safe Torque Off) or SS1 (Safe Stop) are needed for applications with low safety requirements. The CSB21A and CSB31A safety cards are the appropriate solution for such scenarios. Storage/retrieval systems or crane systems require safety functions to ensure that the lifting carriages are safely braked and held, for example. The CSS21A, CSS31A and CSA31A safety cards are suitable for these higher-level functions. All customers get the safety functions appropriate to their application, thus reducing the costs associated with the project to the minimum necessary.
