“Automation solutions to your liking – create your own automation solution” is KEBA’s motto at this year’s SPS trade fair as the brand focuses on comprehensive, flexible and open automation solutions.

Together with KEBA experts, visitors to the exhibition stand can create individual automation solutions according to their tastes and requirements. Just as easily as individual ingredients are combined to cook a burger, components from the Kemro X product and service portfolio can be combined with each other in a variety of ways to create integrated automation solutions. Thanks to open interfaces, components from external suppliers can be added at any time as additional “ingredients” to Kemro X, the platform for industrial automation solutions.

The wide range of options for combining and refining ingredients reflects Kemro X’s greatest advantage: the openness of the platform and KEBA’s broad product portfolio. Customers can compose their “burger” from our catalogue to their liking and refine it with their own “ingredients”. Alternatively, you can ask our experts to suggest an individual solution, similar to a chef’s recommendation.

Kemro X Live Demo

The hardware and software components of the Kemro X product and service portfolio can be combined with each other in a versatile and easy way. Using an end-of-line system from packaging technology as an example, KEBA will present the products and technologies for systems, robotics and mechanical engineering, in the combination of real application and digital twin.

The following innovative solutions and technological highlights can be found here:

Drive technology

KeDrive is the flexible, safe and open servo drive system for modular machines.

The KeDrive D3 multi-axis drive system is used for machine modules with many axes. KeDrive D3 ensures efficient energy exchange and storage. This ensures, for example, controlled movement or controlled shutdown of the system in the event of a power failure. With up to three axes on one device, the system also fits into very compact control cabinets.

The KeDrive D3-AC All-In-One multi-axis controller is ideal when there are only a few axes in a machine module. AC mains input, mains filter, braking resistor and up to 3 axes integrated in a single device. At the Kemro X show, just one KeDrive D3-AC controls all three axes of a delta robot.

The new KeDrive D5-Micro completes the range of servo applications in the extra-low protective voltage range.

AI module

The AE 550 AI module offers the possibility of calculating AI algorithms in the overall Kemro X system. The aim is to integrate AI into existing control systems. For example, AI-assisted object recognition can be used in the PLC or robot control to manipulate the recognised objects.

Safe Wireless

KeTop T150 / T155 Safe Wireless: user-friendly wireless machine operation in portrait or landscape format. The hand-held control devices are open to all controls and uninterrupted work is guaranteed thanks to the Bluetooth connection for safety data communication. The “operating range monitoring” option is available for increased safety during operation.

Integrated robotics in the packaging example

KEBA will be showing both a highly dynamic delta robot and the possibilities of the digital twin of a multi-robot system.

Visitors to the trade fair can interactively control the delta robot, demonstrating the high degree of flexibility that can be achieved by using integrated robotics.

In the simulation we demonstrate the operation of four robots on a single control system, enabling excellent coordination in the material flow.

KEBA’s robotic solution offers machine manufacturers a complete platform with sophisticated robotic functions and the possibility of integrating their own technologies. Thanks to the comprehensive simulation capability, users can easily develop flexible system concepts already in the pre-sales process and accurately predict both throughput and material flow. In practice, the kinematics prove to be more powerful and precise than standard solutions thanks to KEBA’s robotic solution, leading to an increase in machine performance of up to 15 percent.

What else can be seen at the KEBA stand

Handheld control devices / HMI

In the area of HMI, KEBA will be showing several highlights at the SPS. In addition to Safe-Wireless (our wireless strategy), interested parties can use our product configurator to configure mobile and fixed KeTop panels according to their own needs and requirements in just a few clicks. Users can choose from a wide range of KeTop “Basic” handheld control devices and configure the desired keyboard and layout as well as integrated elements in just a few steps. Appropriate accessories such as connection boxes and cables can also be configured. After presenting the new 7” KeTop T135 handheld control device last year, we are proud to present another variant, the KeTop T135 ECO, for the first time at this year’s SPS.

Product launch: KeDrive D5

KEBA has expanded its drive range and is presenting the new KeDrive D5 series of single-axis servo drives for the first time at SPS in Nuremberg, which are seamlessly integrated into the open automation platform Kemro X. These controllers can be seamlessly integrated into the open automation platform Kemro X.

Flexible, compact and easy to use: the latest product in the KeDrive product family impresses with high dynamics and precision thanks to high-performance motor control for synchronous, asynchronous, linear and torque motors. With its Ethernet- and CANopen-based fieldbus interface, the KeDrive D5 can also be easily connected to third-party controllers.

At SPS, KEBA will also be presenting our new drive configurator for the first time, which, like our HMI product configurator, will help customers design customised solutions.
