Kontron new 7” Touch Display based on the Raspberry Pi

Kontron has added Touch Displays based on Raspberry Pi CM4 to its portfolio. The high-performance, high-resolution IPS 7” Touch Display with a robust aluminium front frame was exhibited at the SPS 2023 in Nuremberg. The Display Line (DL) 7″ Pi-Tron CM4 can be used to implement sophisticated visualization projects by taking advantage of the Raspberry Pi community software.

Kontron enhances its Raspberry Pi product line. The high-quality and modern Touch Display DL 7” Pi-Tron CM4 Display Line complements the Board and Automation Lines – BL Pi-Tron CM4 and AL Pi-Tron CM4. It can be used as a decentralized operating and display unit as well as for control and communication applications in various industries. The display with PCAP multi-touch impresses with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels and its outstanding optical capabilities.

The panel comes with a HDMI 2.0 connection that is capable of up to 4Kp60. In addition, another HDMI monitor can be connected directly to the screen so that the display can be duplicated or extended. The aluminium front frame with the dimensions of 200.1 x 131.9 x 46.5 mm (W x H x D) has the protection class IP65 on the frontside and IP20 on the backside. It is designed for installation in switch cabinets and control consoles and for almost any other mounting option. There are optional wireless interface expansions (WLAN & Bluetooth) and an external antenna can be connected.

The Pi-Tron CM4 product line is based on the fourth-generation Compute Module and features the Broadcom BCM2711, 4x Arm® Cortex® A72, 64-bit SoC @1.5 GHz processor, significantly faster than the previous generation. The CM4 has a production guarantee until at least January 2028. The large community behind Raspberry Pi products who provides software examples and compiled program packages is a huge advantage. Kontron Electronics is a Raspberry Pi Design Partner. The DL 7” Pi-Tron CM4 will be available in Q2/2024.
