The leading trade fair for smart and digital automation SPS will take place again in Nuremberg from 12 to 14 November 2024. And LAPP is already on the starting block. In Hall 02, Stand 310, the company will present new products that will change the market in the future, what energy-efficient and sustainable solutions look like, and how logistics services can exploit untapped potential.

Industry and manufacturing are facing a time of great change driven by technological innovations, sustainability requirements and the need for greater flexibility and resilience. Developments towards smart factories, additive manufacturing, the use of artificial intelligence and building energy-efficient production facilities have one thing in common: they all need connectivity solutions that can withstand and advance these developments. Without a literal lifeline, these industries and their future developments would not be possible.

LAPP is therefore setting the pace for SPS 2024, which trade fair visitors should keep an eye on. The leading provider of integrated solutions and branded products in the field of cable and connection technology is presenting prototypes of its sustainable EPIC® brand connectors at the exhibition. FutureLabThey expand LAPP’s sustainable portfolio, which recently launched its first series product on the market: ETHERLINE® data cables with bio-based sheath material. Visitors will also learn how LAPP calculates the CO2 emissions of its products, what benefits customers can get from this, and where the trending topic additive manufacturing is already being used.

Experts from LAPP’s in-house think tank will be available to advise visitors on all three days of the fair and to discuss all things futureLab. This exchange is also important for LAPP to get an early impetus for the further development and progression of its projects. DC technology is also a must when it comes to sustainability, for which LAPP offers a comprehensive portfolio of connectivity solutions. More and more industrial halls and production facilities are converting to direct current (DC), as it offers the decisive advantages of simplified integration of renewable energies and increased energy efficiency. Visitors to the LAPP stand can find out how DC affects cables and wires, how much the cost and CO2 savings can be, and how an in-factory DC network can be implemented.

Enabling seamless communication between field level and control level

New to this year’s exhibition stand are LAPP’s solutions for remote I/O systems. Ensuring seamless communication in both directions between field level and control level allows for the decentralized connection of sensors and actuators to a central control unit. LAPP is introducing a number of new components to SPS, including various variants of LAPP’s UNITRONIC® components with a wide temperature range, resistance to welding spatter, high protection levels against dust and high-pressure cleaning (IP 67 and IP 69K) and other properties. They are particularly suitable for use in advanced systems for distributed automation in industrial environments. Thanks to their modular structure and standardized interfaces, all modules are easy to commission and replace, saving users time and money.

Of course, solutions for industrial communication should be an indispensable companion to PLCs. This year, the company will not only be showcasing components from different areas of the automation pyramid, but also its proven portfolio of fiber optic cables. At the work benches on the fairgrounds, interested visitors can assemble fiber optic cables “on site” in just a few seconds using the LAPP Fiber Fast Connect (FFC) system. In addition, LAPP experts advise on the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of components as well as Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) and Advanced Physical Layer (APL).

The connectivity specialist will also demonstrate its comprehensive expertise at this year’s trade fair stand in the LAPP Harness Solutions area with its proven assemblies. The company scores points here with servo assemblies that comply with industry standards, customer-specific cable assemblies and complex system solutions. These solutions are complemented by numerous services that optimally support customers throughout the entire production process.
