The Stuttgart-based Lapp Group has made further additions to its range of highly dynamic cables. At the SPS IPC Drives exhibition (hall 6, stand 451), Lapp will be presenting three new premium cables that deliver increased productivity while also being lightweight with minimal space requirements and offering extremely long service lives: the ÖLFLEX® SERVO FD 798 CP, ÖLFLEX® SERVO FD 796 P and  ÖLFLEX® CHAIN 896 P.

The three new cable types deliver an impressive performance when it comes to quick changes of position in power chains with acceleration of up to 50 m/s2, meaning that the proportional boosting and braking times can be reduced by up to 96 percent. They also have speeds of up to 5 m/s and travel lengths of up to 100 metres. This makes for a significantly faster and more efficient operation than previous guide chain cables

The ÖLFLEX® SERVO FD 798 CP rotary encoder cable for speed-controlled electrical drives comes as the perfect supplement to the already established ÖLFLEX® SERVO FD 796 CP servo cable, which is used as a fully screened supply line for servo motors. This is suitable as a signal cable for the wiring of rotary encoders for servo drives, and was developed to be compatible with the major linear and rotary displacement transducer connection interfaces from prestigious manufacturers. The new ÖLFLEX® SERVO FD 798 CP rotary encoder cable replaces four previous encoder cables and delivers an impressive performance when it comes to quick changes of position in guide chains. Thanks to the overall screening, it is also possible to use the cable in EMC-critical machinery and plant parts.

The portfolio of highly dynamic servo cables and guide chain cables is rounded off by the ÖLFLEX® SERVO FD 796 P and the ÖLFLEX® CHAIN 896 P 4- and 5-core connecting cable. Both cables replace four (servo) cables from the previous product range. The ÖLFLEX® SERVO FD 796 P now covers any cable versions with control core pair(s). This cable is suitable for two applications. Firstly, as a supply line for servo motors where the necessary motor cables do not require overall screening, due to the way the EMC technology was designed by the manufacturer. Alternatively, they can be used for controlling combined mains frequency motors with the additional functions of electrical brakes or temperature monitoring. The ÖLFLEX® CHAIN 896 P replaces the cable versions without a control core pair, and is used as a cable for power supply or distribution.

Some time ago, Lapp invested in new power chain cable testing facilities at its in-house test centre, in order to permanently guarantee the required quality standards. There the cables are exposed to extremely high dynamic alternate bending loads. In the new testing facility, traversing rates of up to 10 m/s and accelerations of up to 100m/s² are possible.
