Schneider Electric has developed new stepper and servo motors under the name Lexium 38i, in which the drive electronics and motor are presented in a particularly compact design. The integrated drives, which are therefore very space-saving, are characterized by a high power density and, with an output of 230 W to 1.2 kW, are suitable for almost all applications – especially for precision tasks.
The supply is nominally 48 VDC, which simplifies installation requirements. In addition to the high energy efficiency, the Lexium 38i drives have available safety functions and modern IoT connectivity ex works. In addition, the new solutions can be seamlessly and scalably integrated into different control systems.
Since all functions are housed in a compact housing, the number of devices in the control cabinet and the effort for commissioning and maintenance are significantly reduced. The status display in the form of an LED ring enables good visibility from every perspective.
As part of the Modicon Motion portfolio, the Lexium 38i motors are part of a new generation of high-performance solutions with which Schneider Electric is currently expanding its comprehensive range for industrial automation. A new decentralized I/O system and the Modicon M660 motion controller are other new products that are being presented in this context.

Tailor-made drive technology: The Lexium 38i motors are not off the shelf. They are manufactured in Lahr, Baden-Württemberg, and offer a variety of flexible and scalable configuration options to meet different machine requirements. This opens up more options for the integration of specific functions and offers a high degree of engineering freedom.
Small but powerful: Despite its small size, the Lexium 38i offers around 20 percent higher power density than comparable products.
Optimized integration, commissioning and maintenance: Thanks to standardized interfaces and compact design, the Lexium 38i motors can be installed quickly and easily. In addition, the status display in the form of an LED ring enables good visibility from every perspective.
