The first VISION to take place in the new two-year cycle is already almost full, 11 months before it starts: to date, a total of 240 exhibitors have registered for VISION 2014. The bookings for around 75 percent of the stand space in Messe Stuttgart’s Hall 1 have already been confirmed with options available for a further 15 percent. “With VISION 2014, we are expecting to exceed the previous exhibitor record of 372,” says Florian Niethammer, Project Manager of the leading world trade fair for machine vision, confidently. “It is our goal to crack the 400 mark with the exhibitors.”

And, indeed, the signs are looking good for 240 exhibitors have registered for VISION 2014 taking into consideration the current market situation for the industry. “Our positive forecast of plus 5 percent turnover for the German machine vision sector in 2013 has strengthened the situation. The VDMA statistics for machine vision show a 5 percent increase of orders during the first ten months of 2013 when compared with the preceding year. There were clear incentives coming from abroad, in particular from the EU states,” explains Patrick Schwarzkopf, Head of VDMA Machine Vision.

A comprehensive programme of accompanying events will once again feature alongside the main exhibition in 2014, which will be of particular benefit to the visitors. Above all, the world’s most important machine vision forum ‘Industrial VISION Days’, which will be providing visitors once again with further inspiration and incentives. This has been guaranteed by management of VDMA Machine Vision, who are responsible for its content. Anyone looking for very specific production solutions, who wants to know more about current state-of-the-art applications or who, as a newcomer to the industry, wants to find out more about the possibilities of machine vision, will find the right expert here who can provide the answer.

The special show “International Machine Vision Standards” will help clarify any confusion about standardisation, organised in conjunction with the Automated Imaging Association (AIA), the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA) and the Japan Industrial Imaging Association (JIIA). Here, the findings from global standardisation efforts made by the machine vision industry will be presented and discussed. A unique platform with expert knowledge on a topic that makes machine vision technology even more user-friendly.
The theme of Industry PCs (IPCs) will be given more space at VISION 2014. There will be a joint stand for IPCs for the first time, at which visitors will find a comprehensive selection of targeted information.

“Research meets Industry” is the motto of the VDMA Technology Days. During a special show, institutes and universities will present their findings from research projects which boast promising user potential, as well as opportunities for tapping into new markets. Everything from new 3D technology to innovative methods of object classification, high-speed machine vision algorithms to concrete applications.

The “VISION Award 2014” will be presented for the 21st time, a prize which demonstrates the innovative power of the machine vision industry. Special attention is paid to submissions which set high technological standards, applications that display a particular innovativeness, as well as the importance of the development for the machine vision industry and the end user.

Around 400 exhibitors are expected to attend VISION 2014, among them market leaders such as Allied Vision Technologies, Basler, Baumer Optronic, Framos, IDS Imaging Development, ISRA Vision, Keyence, MaxxVision, MVTec Software, Omron, Stemmer Imaging and Teledyne Dalsa.
