The modular VarioPlate Cable Entry System is ideal for feeding through and sealing multiple cables in enclosures, machinery or vehicles. It’s an efficient alternative to cable glands and can be used with pre-terminated leads of varying diameter.
HellermannTyton has added the modular VarioPlate Cable Entry System to its line-up of electrical installation products in Europe.
“Cable entry systems save a lot of time and space compared with the installation of individual cable glands – with the versatility to modify the configuration later on”, says Carsten Heintze, Product Marketing Manager for Electrical Installation EMEA at HellermannTyton. “The modular design of the VarioPlate Cable Entry System ensures that our customers can easily combine and assemble the ideal feed through for multiple cables – no matter whether they are already pre-terminated with plugs or connectors.”
Four VarioPlate frames with integrated gasket are available to choose from. These correspond to the common cut-out dimensions and drilling patterns used in panel building and machine engineering. Up to 40 cables can be combined in the largest frame.
A wide variety of small and large split grommets can be inserted into the frames. The holes in the small grommets accomodate cables ranging from 3 to 16 mm in diameter, and the large grommets are for cables from 16 to 33 mm. Grommet inserts with 1, 2 and 4 holes are available and blind plugs provide flexibility for anticipated modifications.
“Attention to detail is so important when it comes to fulfilling all customer expectations”, points out Carsten Heintze. “For example, the grommet holes have a flexible lip which compensates for up to 0.4 mm tolerance from ominal cable diameters. Each grommet also includes a moulded retainer for adding strain relief with a cable tie. And separate gaskets are not required – each VarioPlate frame includes an integrated moulded seal tested to IP66.”
The modular product is simple to configure to individual requirements using the online VarioPlate configurator on the HellermannTyton website.
