Hilscher Gesellschaft für Systemautomation mbH has launched a new container app that links PROFINET networks to IIoT applications, named the netFIELD App PROFINET Device. The application allows users to enhance any PROFINET network by utilizing an edge gateway that operates as a PROFINET IO device, facilitating the exchange of its PROFINET data with an MQTT broker.
The application is especially noteworthy since PROFINET ranks among the most commonly utilized industrial communication protocols globally. The PROFIBUS Nutzerorganisation e.V. (PNO) anticipates an increase of 10.6 million PROFINET network nodes, reaching a total of 69.3 million nodes by 2023. As production facilities around the globe become more digitalized, the demand for processing PROFINET-IIoT is rising correspondingly.
Who gains from the new netFIELD application?
The new netFIELD application is designed for users looking to transfer PROFINET IO data between a PROFINET controller and IIoT applications utilizing MQTT as a data interface.
