IDEC Corporation has expanded its Operator Interface (OI) family with the new HG1J Series touchscreen. The device leverages the latest innovations to deliver crisp visualization and responsive multi-touch control, all in an extremely compact form factor, making this technology available in more applications than ever before. The HG1J Series replaces the HG1G Series HMI, providing an upgrade path for existing installations.

Compact, Durable HMI Display

The HMI’s advanced PCAP (Projected Capacitive Touch Panel) technology, used in smartphones and tablets, saves space and improves performance. PCAP is not only water and scratch resistant, but is also highly responsive and resists false signals even when there are smudges or water droplets on the HMI surface.

Fewer touchscreen layers and better light transmission levels reduce the need for backlighting, allowing the display to achieve industry-leading brightness of 500 nits, 16 million colors, and a screen resolution of 480 x 272. In addition to multi-touch capabilities, users can: Use the touchscreen; Can be used with thin gloves; The front panel is free of branding, making it interesting for many OEM suppliers.

Designed for any environment

The glass design is wear-resistant in harsh environments and the backlight is rated for a long life of 50,000 hours, making these devices low-maintenance. The battery-free design uses hypercapacitors to maintain time for 20 days, while magnetoresistive random access memory (MRAM) provides non-volatile memory for programs, holding registers, and log data.

With a rated input voltage of 12-24V DC and connectors that simplify installation, the HG1J is ideal for industrial, automotive and solar power applications. Extreme temperature ratings of -20 to 55°C, IP66 and IP67 for laundry areas, IP66F and IP67F for oil resistance, UL61010, UL Type 4X/13 and Class I Div 2 make the HG1J HMI suitable for a variety of applications and locations.

Intuitive Software

HMI configuration is accessed through IDEC’s standard WindOI-NV4 software. The software is easy to use and intuitive, with a drag-and-drop interface and an extensive image library. Projects can be automatically converted from one HMI size to another within seconds. The HMI supports scripting, multiple languages, security, trend charts, data logging, alarm logging and other features.

Connectivity and IIoT

Two USB-A ports support flash drives for data logging, recipes, and program transfer, as well as dongles for speakers, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. A built-in Ethernet port gives users easy access for remote maintenance and communication, and supports Modbus TCP/IP, BACnet IP, EtherNet/IP, and MQTT protocols for connecting to other smart devices. Integrated RS232C and RS422/485 serial communication ports support Modbus RTU, allowing the HG1J to communicate with other serial PLCs or devices such as barcode readers and temperature controllers.

One main HG1J can operate up to 15 other IDEC HMI devices via serial ports using OI link communication, simplifying cabling and reducing communication load. The HG1J supports the simultaneous use of up to four protocols. Users have numerous communication options available to create automation and IIoT solutions supporting multiple industrial protocols, FTP protocols, remote monitoring and control, email/SMS, Twitter/X, iOS and Android apps, and custom Include websites.

Powerful HMI Operator Interface Solution

The IDEC HG1J HMI packs the latest technology into a convenient compact display size and form factor, making it the perfect solution for space-constrained industrial applications. The HG1J is ideal for many laboratory, commercial and industrial applications in industries such as food and beverage, consumer products, oil and gas, and agriculture. Designers of test equipment, HVAC systems, pump controls, remote well and booster systems, and other OEM machinery and process equipment find the HG1J to be the perfect visualization solution for their equipment.
