When it comes to detecting metal objects, inductive sensors come into their own. These proximity sensors offer contactless detection at close ranges. But if the detection object is too far away, inductive sensors reach their limits. Leuze’s sensor experts have found a new, more cost-effective solution: the inductive sensor, called IS 200MM.2, allows switching distances of up to 40 millimeters in a compact cylindrical housing. It is therefore also suitable for applications with small installation spaces, long distances and machine concepts with large tolerances. It also detects imprecisely placed metal objects, minimizing the risk of collisions during operation.

Flexible use

IS 200 series sensors are available in cylindrical M12, M18 and M30 nickel-plated brass housings. Leuze offers each sensor type in two mounting variants for semi-recessed and non-recessed installation. The sensor offers users the advantage of being able to reliably detect moving machine parts as well as tools, input materials or end products made of steel, aluminum, copper alloys or stainless steel. Thanks to the long switching distance, multiple operating ranges can be covered with just one compact sensor model. This standardization also reduces storage costs. It also contributes to a cost-effective system design.

Robust Construction

The IS 200 series devices meet the requirements of protection class IP 67. Their high durability and robust design make them suitable for use in harsh environments with dirt and vibration. The devices also operate in a wide temperature range from -25 to +70 °C. This gives it even more versatility.
