PI, a world leader in precision motion control and nanopositioning, has introduced a new family of high dynamic linear motor stages: the V-574. This is a new series of linear positioning stages with excellent guiding accuracy and a smooth three-phase linear motor.
Excellent guiding accuracy – geometric performance
These tables feature high-precision crossed roller bearings, mounted using a proprietary process, for excellent geometric performance. For example, the 130 mm version achieves straightness and flatness of 1.2 μm over the entire travel range, with pitch and yaw angles of just 200 μm. 45 and 45 μrad, respectively.
High speed – long duty cycle – three travel ranges
V-574 linear motor stages are offered in travel ranges of 60 mm, 130 mm, and 230 mm.The three-phase ironless, gearless linear motor transfers its power directly and smoothly to the motion platform, eliminating the backlash and kickback that can occur with screw-driven tables. The V-574 table reaches speeds of up to 1 m/s and acceleration of 1 g, and the brushless motor is maintenance-free, ensuring a long life even in demanding 24/7 operation.
Choice of three optical encoders for incremental and absolute measurement
You can choose from three encoders: two sine/cosine encoders for traditional motion control and an absolute encoder that uses the BiSS-C transmission protocol. The absolute encoder provides a resolution of 1 nm and transmits the current table position to the controller as soon as it is switched on. No reference is required and there is no chance of losing the encoder count even in electrically noisy environments.
What are the advantages of linear motors?
Mechanically, the V-574 series features an ironless, non-locking linear motor that provides extremely smooth motion and a high dynamic speed range, as well as quick acceleration. They are ideal for applications requiring high speeds or extremely constant speeds, such as: B. In the fields of optical inspection, measurement technology, photonics, interferometers and semiconductor test equipment. Smooth, wear-free motor drives are also popular in high-speed automation applications where reliability and maximum uptime are critical.
