Oriental Motor launches new drivers for controlling AZ motors . They impress with their very compact design and low weight. The mini drivers, along with other innovations, will also be on display at the SPS from November 8th to 10th, 2022 in Nuremberg.
The two new drivers from Oriental Motor have been designed for the EtherCAT connection or RS-485 communication and are suitable for all AZ drives with DC voltage (24/48 VDC). The extremely compact size and low weight of the drivers are particularly striking: the version for RS-485 communication weighs just 56 grams and measures 47x53x24 mm. Since, for example, the low weight of the individual components in driverless transport vehicles (AGV) contributes to lower overall power consumption, the new lightweight drivers are also a gain in terms of energy efficiency. When designing the mini drivers, great importance was also attached to space-saving installation: They can therefore be attached directly with two screws without a DIN rail.
With the help of a higher-level controller, the mini-drivers can also be used for voltage monitoring: They then emit an alarm signal if the voltage falls below a predefined value. This function is particularly useful for AGV applications to avoid battery failure during operation.
Another advantage for battery-powered applications is the “Servo Emulation Mode”, which optimizes the current according to the load: the current is higher with heavy loads and lower with light loads. The battery life and consequently the potential operating time are extended. The large voltage supply range is also ideal for these applications: at 24 VDC it is 20-32 VDC, at 48 VDC it is 40-55 VDC.
