A single motor for various applications, which can be conveniently operated by smartphone. The Lenze Smart Motor developed by the Hamelin-based specialist in Motion-Centric Automation makes another compelling case for simplicity in mechanical engineering. This latest material handling solution will reduce by up to 70 per cent the number of drive variations required by customers. Another highlight at the 2013 Hanover Industry Trade Fair, the Lenze FAST line of standardised software components and application templates, will enable machine engineers to create 80 per cent of their machine software in 20 per cent of the time they would have taken previously. Both these innovations will be on show in Hall 14, Stand H20 at the 2013 Hanover Industry Trade Fair from 8 to 12 April along with Lenze’s new c300, the most compact mini-controller with motion functionality on the market.

The Lenze – it’s that simple. This latest addition to Lenze’s product range definitely lives up to the company’s motto. Lenze experts have successfully combined the simplicity of a mains-powered motor with the technical advantages of an electronic drive control unit. Since the number of revolutions is freely adjustable, the Lenze Smart Motor will reduce the number of various drives required by mechanical engineers by up to 70 per cent. Customers will also benefit from the additional convenience of being able to operate the motor by smartphone.

Standard software components and application templates for structured storage systems which Lenze uses to support customers in its efficient development of modular control software will be another highlight at Lenze’s trade show stand. Lenze FAST enables mechanical engineers to perform 80 per cent of their work using standardised machine modules, increasing both speed and consistency. By (re-)using finished and approved functional and technology modules, they will also be able to reduce costs and the error-rate, and to gain valuable time for implementing, trialling and commissioning machine features that offer mechanical engineering companies essential benefits to pass on to their customers.

Last but by no means least, Lenze has consistently been developing its range of controllers. The latest addition, which it will introduce at the trade fair, is an extremely compact mini-controller with stackable I/O modules and integrated master interfaces for EtherCAT and CanOpen. The company’s c300 control cabinet solution and the new p300 panel controller offer solutions for simple motion applications and process controlling tasks. These applications complement the Lenze controller platform, all of whose components are based on a single cutting-edge system architecture. Ease of handling was an important consideration throughout the development phase.
