Oriental Motor will be represented at SPS smart production solutions in Nuremberg from November 23 to 25, 2021, where it will present space-saving, fieldbus-compatible drivers for various stepper motor drives that cover a wide range of applications. The new products can be seen in Hall 1 at Stand 1-424.

The fieldbus-capable drivers for stepper motors from Oriental Motor enable fast and safe data communication for position controls. “What these drives have in common is that they all use a highly efficient AZ motor as the core drive, which is equipped with a mechanical absolute value sensor,” explains Gunnar Siebel from Oriental Motor’s Sales Planning Department. As AZ stepper motors are also used as drives in electric linear guides, electric cylinders, rotary tables, linear actuators, electric grippers and rack and pinion systems from Oriental Motor, the advantages of this drive system can be used in a wide variety of applications. With a combination of different drives, the management of the components is significantly simplified.

For single-axis systems, Oriental Motor has driver versions for 24/48 VDC and for 230 VAC in its program; these are fieldbus-compatible for PROFINET, EtherCAT and EtherNet / IP. The company also offers multi-axis drivers for up to four axes that are designed for an EtherCAT connection. These are only available in the version for 24/48 VDC.

The drivers are connected to the fieldbus network easily and conveniently via the Ethernet cable. The setting and execution of operating data, as well as the setting of various parameters, the output of alarm information and monitoring functions can be controlled via the network. Commands and status messages are transmitted in real time. In this way, the movements of several synchronously working stepper motors can be carried out reliably and precisely.

Due to the direct connection of the AZ stepper motors with network-compatible drivers to the higher-level controller, only a single data cable is required. This significantly reduces the amount of wiring required, saves working time and eliminates wiring errors.
