EXPO Las Vegas 2013, Bosch Packaging Technology, a leading supplier of processing and packaging solutions, will introduce the CCM 3100 case packer for vertical and horizontal bag presentation. The new case packer is designed to provide increased flexibility in secondary packaging, meeting manufacturers’ needs for shorter production runs and more frequent changes in product packaging styles. As a result, the CCM 3100 allows manufacturers to meet retailer demands for differentiating their products’ shelf presentation at the point of sale. “With its capacity to be combined with Bosch’s other packaging machines, the CCM 3100 solidifies Bosch as a single-source supplier, providing a flexible and adaptable secondary packaging solution for manufacturers that can be tailored to their needs and constraints,” said Craig Collett, director of HFFS and secondary packaging systems, Bosch Packaging Technology, Inc.
Wide format range offers high flexibility

The CCM 3100 is designed for easy integration with both vertical form, fill and seal (VFFS) and horizontal form, fill and seal (HFFS) machines. To provide utmost flexibility in secondary packaging, this packaging solution features a wide format range in both bag and case sizes and styles, including the Regular Slotted Container (RSC), Half Slotted Container (HSC), and other shelf-ready packaging styles. This range of formats enables manufacturers to select the secondary packaging best suited to their products depending on bag style, shelf ready requirements and pack pattern formats. Capable of picking and placing up to 180 products per minute, the machine’s single frame is attached to an in-feed system that accepts products from VFFS and HFFS primary packaging machines. These products can be handled individually or in groups, and are picked and placed by a two-axis robot with vacuum or gripper end-effectors, depending on the product characteristics.
Designed for easy changeovers

The CCM 3100 setup can be quickly changed to accommodate vertical (stand up) or horizontal (lay flat) bag orientation by means of a product recipe selection change, and if necessary, by making tool-less setup changes. Its open frame enables easy access for quick changeover set-up, with moving parts and wear parts reduced to a minimum to increase production capacity. A built-in inspection station on the infeed conveyor allows for quality control prior to packaging, ensuring that bags are correctly positioned and sized for smooth case loading.
“Built for ease-of-use and long life, the CCM 3100 can be run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with operators able to switch quickly between vertical and horizontal packaging to optimize secondary packaging,” said Collett.
