The EPSG will be presenting a wide range of innovations at the SPS IPC Drives

A POWERLINK master solution for CODESYS will be unveiled at the SPS IPC Drives will be showing how easy it is to integrate POWERLINK in the IEC-61131 development environment at the EPSG booth and also at the 3S-Smart Software Solutions booth. Another highlight at the EPSG booth (Booth 410 in Hall 2) will be an openSAFETY light curtain from Datalogic. This solution makes it possible to achieve significant savings with safety applications.

A large number of control system manufacturers use CODESYS as the development environment for their controllers. Machine manufacturers can now benefit from the advantages of the real-time POWERLINK network when programming their applications using CODESYS. “We have been pushing for the integration of POWERLINK in CODESYS because we see a demand for this combination globally,” says Dimitri Philippe, managing director of BE.services.

Easy access is absolutely necessary to ensure that the technology gains acceptance quickly. That’s why the CODESYS IEC 61131 development environment and the POWERLINK plug-in are available for free from the CODESYS online store. The communication stack for POWERLINK is also available for free.

POWERLINK is an open protocol and the communication stack can be downloaded from the SourceForge open source platform free of charge. BE.Services offers runtime system integration for CODESYS. Datalogic and the EPSG will also be presenting an intelligent openSAFETY light curtain that is connected directly to the real-time POWERLINK network. The overlying openSAFETY protocol replaces the hardwiring that used to be necessary for the light curtain. Customers benefit from consistent, comprehensive diagnostics, simple configuration and new design possibilities for their solutions.

The additional sensors that were previously required are no longer needed, offering an additional cost reduction. The openSAFETY light curtain is based on a newly developed profile that enables a uniform market standard to be established. The EPSG will introduce this profile to the public at the trade fair.
