MDA SOUTH AMERICA, the new trade show which will be launched in São Paulo in March, is getting off to a strong start. Major nations such as the USA, Taiwan, Italy, China and Germany will be represented with national pavilions. For manufacturers of power transmission and control technology, South America represents an important growth market. Brazil, in particular, plays a special role. The Brazilian economy is expected to return this year to its former strength with a growth rate of four percent in its gross domestic product.
Deutsche Messe AG is organizing MDA SOUTH AMERICA parallel to CeMAT SOUTH AMERICA in Centro de Exposicoes Imigrantes in São Paulo. This combination of trade fairs has already proven highly effective at other leading international trade fair venues. “Following a very successful trade fair premiere of CeMAT SOUTH AMERICA in April 2011, we are now making a start with MDA on this market. South America is one of the most important growth markets for our company, and we intend to intensify and extend our trade fair activities on this market”, said Wolfgang Pech, Senior Vice President at Deutsche Messe AG.
Leading international manufacturers such as Beckhoff, Bosch Rexroth, Lenze and Festo will be exhibiting at the premiere of MDA SOUTH AMERICA. Dr. Karl Tragl, Chairman of the Board at Bosch Rexroth AG, explains: “Brazil is one of the world’s strongest growth markets, and the government has decided to invest around 400 billion US dollars in promoting economic growth over the next few years. This program will focus mainly on the development of renewable energy and oil production, as well as on the improvement of the public infrastructure and the transport network. Over the past five years, Bosch Rexroth has nearly doubled its turnover in this country. Bosch Rexroth has been active in Brazil since 1967 with its own production facilities as well as an extensive distribution and service network. Public and private clients attach particular importance to partners that maintain local production plant and are able to deliver products in line with the demands of Brazilian customers. We support German manufacturers moving into the Brazilian market by supplying components made on the local market and with extensive consultations on applications.”
The positive business trend is confirmed by leading Brazilian industry associations. According to the industry association Abimaq, domestic sales of machinery and plant rose by 1.4 percent between January and September 2012, while imports grew by 17.6 percent. This growth holds excellent potential for foreign companies and is being driven, in part, by international automotive companies which have set up their own production facilities in Brazil. The electrical engineering sector is another growth area. The industry association for this sector, Abinee, estimates growth of five percent for 2012 compared with 2011. Abinee expects the strongest growth in sales of equipment for telecommunications, the energy industry and industrial automation.
