Rotronic, part of the Processing Sensing Technologies Group, has launched a new advanced transmitter for combined humidity, temperature and dew point measurements.
The HygroFlex HF5A is designed for any application where fast, accurate and repeatable measurements are key. It features the latest Near Field Communication (NFC) technology and can be programmed and accessed via a smartphone or NFC-enabled computer, simplifying operation and reducing set-up time.

Versatile measurement range: The device is compatible with a wide range of humidity and temperature sensors, covering a measurement range of 0 to 100% RH (relative humidity) and -100 °C to +200 °C. Additional measurement options include CO2 and differential pressure.
Clear display and indicators: The front LCD display shows three measurement parameters simultaneously. Depending on the operating situation, the measured value is shown in green (normal operation), orange (output simulation) or red (alarm).
Extensive outputs: Both analog 4-20 mA and digital RS485 outputs are included as standard.
Improved usability
The HF5A can be configured and monitored remotely using the Rotronic HygroSoft app or PC software via a smartphone or laptop with optional NFC USB reader. These tools provide step-by-step instructions on the screen, ensuring a hassle-free user experience.
HF5A Improvements over HF5
Start Time: Start time for 2-wire devices is now less than 30 seconds, and the LED or indicator light turns on after 10 seconds.
Available Probes: Access RMS probes if using 3-wire or 4-wire configurations.
Communication Protocol: MODBUS RTU over RS485 (screw terminals).
LED Indicators: LED indicators on the front show operating status (green/orange/red) and monitor analog output. NFC interface: Equipped with an NFC interface, the HF5A can be operated via a smartphone or a computer equipped with an NFC reader.
Sensors and adaptations
The HF5A is delivered with interchangeable Rotronic probes. These allow for quick initialization and are designed for use in harsh industrial, laboratory and scientific environments. This allows the new device to be used flexibly for applications ranging from HVAC and printing to food and pharmaceutical production.
Standard versions and custom options
Rotronic produces six standard versions of the HygroFlex HF5A: This includes:
Two 2-wire analog versions
Two 3-wire and 4-wire analog versions
Two combined 3-wire and 4-wire analog and digital versions compatible with MODBUS RTU systems
In addition, the company offers custom options for orders of 20 units or more. Other options include channel mounting kits and versions without a front LCD display.
