SPS – Industrial Automation Fair Guangzhou is on track to set a new record in exhibitor recruitment, as more than 90% of booth space at the fair has already been confirmed for the 2014 show. Taking place from 3 – 5 March at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou, the event will continue its goal of showcasing the latest advancements in automation technology for China’s evolving manufacturing industry. Over 500 exhibitors are estimated to participate, with specialties ranging from drive systems and components, sensors and IPCs to industrial software, interface technology and machine vision.

Mr Louis Leung, Deputy General Manager at Messe Frankfurt Co Ltd commented: “The strong response in exhibitor participation for the 2014 fair shows that suppliers see the great potential in China’s changing manufacturing industry, and that they also value the professionalism we provide as organisers. The Guangzhou fair has built a solid reputation for bringing together some of the world’s top experts in automation technology as well as introducing new innovations to the local and regional market. I look forward to viewing all the latest advancements from our participating brands.”

With the second round of exhibitor recruitment complete, another group of top international brands have been added to the 2014 show, including several first-time exhibitors. Some of these new participants include:

Intelligent manufacturing zone and associated seminar confirmed for 2014 edition

Within the economic goals outlined under China’s 12th Five-year plan is the development of seven new industries that emphasise energy efficiency and conservation. One of these emerging industries is high-end equipment manufacturing. The sector involves the development of intelligent robotics, control and automation systems as well as the supporting software for the various devices. According to the present Five-year plan, high-end equipment manufacturing in China is currently experiencing a compounded annual growth rate of 30.26%. By 2015, the intelligent manufacturing sector, a sub-class of the high-end equipment manufacturing industry, is expected to account for 20% of high-end equipment production, with total sales revenue equalling more than 165 billion USD.

High-end equipment such as intelligent robots and automation systems are viewed as the future of China’s manufacturing industry. The aforementioned technologies are expected to lead to the growth of “intelligent manufacturing”, allowing manufacturers of various goods to rely less on human capital and produce higher quality products with uniform precision. In order to promote the current innovations from both domestic and international high-end equipment manufacturers, the Guangzhou fair has organised the “Intelligent manufacturing” zone. The zone will feature exhibitors classified under one of the following four categories:

Numerically-controlled machines and robots
Additive manufacturing solutions
Intelligent management systems
Intelligent control systems

Additionally, a seminar on intelligent manufacturing practices and current trends will join a series of fringe events focused on automation technology’s developments. Together with other forums and seminars on sensor technology as well as automation systems and drives, the 2014 show aims to provide a comprehensive outlook on the current state of automation technology, and its impact on China’s future development.

SPS – Industrial Automation Fair Guangzhou is organised by Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co Ltd, China Foreign Trade Guangzhou Exhibition General Corporation, Guangzhou Overseas Trade Fairs Ltd and Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH. The associate sponsors are Guangdong Automation Association, Guangzhou Automation Association and the Guangzhou Institute fo Scientific Instrument.
