At the SPS 2022, which takes place from November 8th to 10th, 2021 in Nuremberg, SIEB & MEYER AG will present the latest models of the SD4x series: SD4S, SD4M and brand new SD4B. The innovative frequency converters for high-speed applications offer customers numerous advantages, including optimized performance, higher speeds and low motor heating without a sine filter.

The SD4B from SIEB & MEYER is the successor to the SD2B plus: This particularly compact device is suitable both for use as a highly dynamic servo amplifier for operating rotary and linear low-voltage servo motors and for optimized operation of high-speed, low-voltage synchronous and asynchronous motors .

In the high-speed range, the SD4B allows sensor-based operation of motors with a superimposed synchronization function based on 24 V synchronization signals. In this way, several high-speed motors can be operated at synchronous angles in master/slave operation, which is helpful, for example, in the field of optical systems. The robust speed control also allows high mass inertia ratios between motor and tool of up to 1:100.

The SD4Sis currently available in numerous sizes of the 230 V class or the 400 V class. Overall, these devices cover the power range (1.4..55 kVA) of the SD2S series or even extend it upwards and downwards (0.8..66 kVA). SIEB & MEYER used the available processor performance for new control functions. It is now possible to optimally operate synchronous motors with “buried” magnets, also known as interior permanent magnet motors (IPM). The reluctance torque that is additionally available with these motors is optimized in real time, independent of the operating point.

The three-level inverter SD4Mcan fully exploit their advantages, for example in the area of turbo compressors and compressors. On the one hand, the low motor heating in combination with the high system efficiency is beneficial here. The latter leads to significant energy savings and short return-on-investment times with quasi 24/7 full-load operation. Furthermore, the omission of motor chokes or sine filters results in a more compact construction volume and lower production costs for the overall system. The SD4M also offers the control function for IPM motors.
