SSV at SPS 2022: IoT building blocks for edge gateway applications

The development of an industrial IoT application with valuable customer benefits is still a major challenge due to the overall complexity.

Fast time-to-market doesn’t really help if the quantifiable benefits are missing and cybersecurity hasn’t been considered in the planning phase. Solid planning and a DevOps process chain with a development process that covers the entire life cycle of the application is therefore much more important from SSV’s point of view.

To help with the complex requirements, SSV now offers an adaptive building block concept for industrial IoT applications. The central function block is hardware-agnostic firmware for edge gateways. It has an adaptable range of functions and can be used on various embedded platforms as well as in Docker containers.

The modules of the SFS modular system ( Smart Factory Sensor ) are available for the sensors in combination with the SSB protocol (Secure Sensor Beacon). AI functions are integrated into the firmware via TensorFlow and TinyML. With regard to cybersecurity, various security levels are possible, which are based on the IEC 62443-4-1 guideline.

SSV will present a practical example at the SPS 2022 with a virtual IoT service assistant for machines and systems, which e.g. B. enables highly qualified online help in the event of a fault. In this example application, various machine components and sensors supply various event-driven operating data to a digital twin. This allows the current overall status to be visualized at any time, for example via a website.

BLE beacons with status information are also periodically sent directly to the machine, which can be received on site via a smartphone app and displayed to the user. The app also generates automatic requests to a cloud service, which, after a data analysis, provides valuable context-related user information, e.g. B. maintenance information, sent back to the smartphone.

The building blocks are distributed by SSV under a license agreement for industrial IoT projects. This also includes an individual range of support services for the implementation and testing of all functions, practical use and the associated life cycle phases.

You will find SSV at SPS 2022 in Hall 6, Stand 6-150G.
