Just in time for SMM 2024, the steut Controltec division presents a wide range of switching devices with DNV approval. These switching devices are developed for applications where moisture and humidity (including salt water) are frequent. One of the most important features is the wide temperature range (up to -60 °C depending on the series).

The DNV approval proves the mechanical robustness and the ability to withstand shocks, crashes and vibrations up to 4 g. This combination is often required in the maritime industry, but not exclusively in B. shipyards or oil rigs.

To date, steut’s DNV-certified switching devices include magnetic sensors, safety sensors and even foot switches in the “Extreme” version. The range has now been expanded to include three universally applicable position switch series Ex 97, Ex 98 and Ex 99. All three series are compact, robust and can be adapted to individual cases by choosing different actuators. They offer a high degree of protection (IP 66/67) as well as certification for explosion protection zones 1 and 21 (gas and dust explosion protection).

Further features of these position switches are compact, standardized dimensions, metal housing (Ex 98) and universal mounting options according to EN 50047 (Ex 97) and EN 50041 (Ex 98 and 99). All three series are also available as non-Ex variants. steute will be showcasing these three new DNV-approved switch series at SMM (hall B6, stand 137). In addition, the company will be showcasing wired and wireless versions of its robust, corrosion-resistant foot switches (“quick release hooks”) as well as anti-two-block switches at the trade fair, among others, for modern anchoring systems and port cranes – a unique selling point for steute as an international, highly specialized supplier to the maritime industry.
