Danish collaborative robot company Universal Robots is now increasing the payload of its new generation of high-load cobots, the UR20 and UR30, allowing customers to lift more without extra cost.
The update increases the total payload, including the end effector, to 25 kg and 35 kg, respectively, when the cobots are used in the upper lift position. This is especially useful for palletizing applications and solutions.
“At Universal Robots, we continuously test and develop our products, and every time we release a new feature, we want to give our partners and customers instant access to it,” said Tero Tolonen, Chief Product Officer. “This update allows our customers to increase their productivity without increasing costs. This is just one example of how our passion for innovation contributes to our customers’ bottom lines.” There’s no need to buy new to increase strength, and product updates can be made in minutes.
The increased payload can be unlocked by simply updating the UR’s PolyScope software to version 5.19 or later. By 2024, the UR20 and UR30 will automatically ship with the necessary software to support the use of higher payloads.
The UR20 palletizing application with increased payload capacity was shown for the first time at the China International Industry Fair in Shanghai this week.
