Measure and record the electrical character¬istics of machines and systems. – Current levels from just 1 mA are registered: Even small amounts of power are recorded, such as for devices in stand-by mode

The corner stone of all power management systems is the determination of electrical characteristics. In order to be able to optimise the energy consumption of machines and systems, first of all you must record and analyse detailed data. The new POWER MONITOR from Weidmüller measures and records all the relevant electrical characteristics of machines and systems. A power management system can be formed on the basis of this, resulting in subsequent savings.

The POWER MONITOR measures and visualises the following characteristics with extreme accuracy: Current, voltage, power, power factor, apparent and reactive power at each connected phase as well as in the total line. Accurate to within 1% and with a display that is updated every 0.1 seconds, the POWER MONITOR meets the accuracy requirements according to IEC 62053-21.

It measures current levels from 1 mA, meaning that even very small amounts of power are recorded, such as for devices in stand-by mode. At a glance the users can see the measured values on the four-digit, background-lit LCD display.

The POWER MONITOR (front side produced to IP 51 protection degree) is extremely easy to install and use, while the large soft keys enable simple and secure menu navigation. The POWER MONITOR integrates an RS485 interface and a USB connection for communication. It is suitable for new systems and machines as well as retrofitting as it can be installed in all electrically-supplied systems. As such, users can form the corner stone of their power management system.

Today the aim of every user of a machine or system is to use resources efficiently and integrate them into a power management system. According to VDI guideline 4602, power management is “…the foresighted, organised and systemised coordination of procurement, conversion, distribution and use of power to meet requirements, under consideration of ecological and economical objectives”.

In order to set up a power management system and make savings, essential measured values must be determined and analysed. This is key for optimising the power consumption of machines and systems. The new POWER MONITOR from Weidmüller measures and records all the relevant electrical characteristics of machines and systems and forms the corner stone of a power management system.

The POWER MONITOR measures current, voltage, power, power factor, apparent and reactive power at each connected phase as well as in the total line – all with great accuracy.

The POWER MONITOR is extremely easy to install and is very user friendly, with large soft keys that enable secure navigation of the menu. All the measured values are clearly displayed on the amply-dimensioned four-digit LCD backlit display – users can see all the relevant electrical characteristics of machines and systems at a glance. The display is accurate to within 1% and is updated every 100 millisec-onds. POWER MONITOR meets the accuracy requirements in accordance with IEC 62053-21. It even measures small amounts of power, and records current levels from 1 mA, meaning that even the power consumption of devices in stand-by mode can be reliably recorded.

The POWER MONITOR from Weidmüller is suitable for new systems and machines as well as retrofitting. It can be installed in all systems that are supplied with electricity. The compact device weighs around 450 g and its external dimensions are 96 mm x 96 mm x 56 mm (H/W/D without terminal block). The front of the device is produced to IP 51 protection degree, and the pack to IP 20 protection degree. Communication is achieved via a USB 2.0 connection (USB series mini B) as well as an RS485 interface (MODBUS (RTU)). The POWER MONITOR can be integrated into a central, higher-level power management system. The supply voltage of the device (AC/DC) is in the range from 85 to 264 V AC or 100 to 300 V DC. The POWER MONITOR is designed for operation within the temperature range from -25 to +55°C.
