“Shaping the future. Sustainably. Together.” Yaskawa has the future of consistently sustainable automation covered and will be at this year’s Hannover Messe to showcase its sustainability projects, including a new control platform, the latest cobots with their own ecosystem as well as solutions for greater energy efficiency in drive technology.
i³ CONTROL is Yaskawa’s brand new automation platform. The special thing about this system, turned concept is that it provides a technically coordinated overall solution for industry-specific controllers — including everything from engineering software and controller hardware to integrated chip technology. And it has the potential to do so much more. Ahead of the new additions to the i³ CONTROL portfolio, the first PLC of this new platform – the iC9210-PN – is now celebrating its premiere.
The new plug&play HC DTP cobot series makes it easier to build simple cobot installations. The adapter flange and internal media routing options have been adapted to accommodate the wide variety of common cobot tools and grippers on the cobot market. Alongside the new cobot series, Yaskawa has launched its own “ecosYstem” partner product range: an online network of various peripheral products and complete systems. In addition to Yaskawa’s own products, such as drives, linear axes and software packages, peripherals partners can also list their products.
A mobile application with a Motoman HC20 DTP illustrates the broad range of opportunities that the new series provides: The handling cobot is installed on an automated guided vehicle (AGV) from IBG, which will travel between the two companies’ booths at the trade fair.
Many more highlights also await trade fair visitors: A number of new functions have been added to the ‘Singular Control’ solution, which enables robots, servo drives, inverter drives and I/O systems to be controlled using a single controller. The new CR700 inverter demonstrates intelligent load handling for safe and efficient crane operation. The proven Windows 10-based VP0-016 panel PC has had a software update and boasts a 64-bit operating system.
The new Motoman GP20 handling robot with its slim manual axis from the European robot factory in Kočevje is an example of the models tailored specifically to the European market. Not only are they currently helping to reduce CO2 emissions thanks to shorter transport routes, but an optimized delivery chain also means they can be delivered promptly.
Visitors to the Yaskawa booth (Hall 6, Stand D38) will be able to see practical examples of what sustainability means in terms of automation by finding out about a number of energy efficiency projects currently underway, such as, electric drive solutions for the marine sector based on permanent magnet motors and generators or equipping escalator drives in airports and cities, such as in the Munich subway network, with regenerative matrix converters.
